I'm just concerned that someone will come and take cuttings from Britta now!
Watch out for the plastic bags and secateurs!

Get off me, you devils!!!!!

I had been to Powerscourt gardens yesterday, review follows. They had a gardencenter there. There is gardencenters and gardencenters. This one is amazing exclusive. They had the usual range of roses plus some specials :) so, what they dont have anymore now is the Cristata and a S. du Dr. Jamain. They both have to go into pots for the time being but: The Narrow Water and the S. du Dr. Jamain are a most thrilling combination! They both are in the backpatio enjoying the evening sun in case it should peep through and in case I have the opportunity of planting them out, they will be planted together.

Well done Britta,

As I am fairly new to roses I created the ranks with what I knew 3 months ago: So this makes me raise the question - what would you all have set as the different ranks?

Any good suggestions will get included!

Hi Pete,
So far, so good, 'twill be interesting to see what happens later on.
Logically something like:-
Autumn Flowering
Hips
Winter Sleep
Spring Flush

or alternatively:-
Blown Bloom
Dead Head
Half Eaten Hip
Black Spot
etc.

Hi all,

@ Pete: I too think you've named the ranks well, good idea to use a "rose-maturity-metaphor". As one cannot use the full cycle of a rose's life -- even "old rose" isn't really that swell in the context of ranking, I'd have taken maybe "wise rose" as last step (as Maribel had suggested in an other thread) or something like "everblooming". Will be interesting to see how many steps there are. I suppose we'll see the next step soon, I trust in Britta :)

@ everyone: Just had a look at the user list to see again the names of the different 'germination levels' and noticed something else: have you ever considered the female:male ratio of forum members here?

As of now, there are 435 registered members. Approx. 30 of them have posted 10 or more times. If you're a bit generous to the males, then it's two third female members and one third males. If you take 20 posts or 40 posts it's roughly the same, proportion of female members a bit higher than two thirds. And I bet, if you would know the gender of all the registered users it's something like 80-85% female members. Interesting.

Hannes
