I brought Kazanlik from a bargin bin to try and grow it on my rockery which has very poor soil I made sure it had plenty of food It started to put on new shoots but they died back. I decided to move it to a hospial pot to be nursed back to health The roots had began to put out little white new shoots so I knew the plant was still alive anyway I discovered it had an area that had been damaged and was weeping clear fluid I cut it off and where I cut this it is weeping also I cant stop this weeping is my rose going to bleed to death or what can I do? Any idears?

After you cut a rose the sap will rise (because of the time of year) and so some bleeding is normal, but after a while the cut should callous over. If this continues to bleed you could plaster the wound with something like an elastaplast which will help it heal, then when it has healed gentle remove the plaster from the rose and she should be OK.

When did you cut the rose and how long has it been bleeding for?

it has been bleeding for over 24 hours it must have a blood clotting disease, I will go and put a plaster on and see if that helps I did think of that yesterday

Well my haemophilia rose bush is still bleeding kept the plasters on for three days but it is still weeping and there isn't any sign of new growth at all. I think this might be terminal but will give it some more time.
Thank You Mellie

Hello Mellie,
sorry to hear about your rose, I had thought the bleeding would have stopped after you had put the plaster on. I never have experienced that with roses or heard about it before. Something new to learn on the forum every day ...

greetings
Hannes
