Is there an online reference of recommended rose/clematis combinations? A kind of tried and trusted pairings? Also can you recommend a clematis to go with my three climbing roses "Awakening" - they are about 6-8 feet tall with pale pink flowers. also for my yellow bank's rose, which has already reached the bedroom window, but when it's lovely early flush is finished that's it till next year!

Hi there Zephirine,
I don't know is such a reference list at the moment, maybe it is something that could be started by the forum members and be added to by others as their experience grows?
With 'Awakening' or other similar rose I would grow the viticella type of clematis like 'Etoile Violette' or 'Polish Spirit'. You could also go for a late large flowered cultivar like 'Jackmanii' or 'Viola'. All the above are of rich blue through to dark purple and will flower in the later part of the summer about July to September.
