Unknown alpine clematis.

I have  posted two photos of my unknown clematis on the garden photo gallery. I usually have a small tag in front. However the wild pheasants have pecked at them and then taken the tags. Probably to identify their nests!!

Re: Unknown alpine clematis.

Hello there oldrosarian, smile

I have taken a look at the pictures of your unknown clematis.
I can identify them both I'm pretty sure the bottom one is montana 'Marjorie' and the top pic is of montana 'Broughton Star' or a small possibility, montana 'Sunrise'.
I hope this jogs the memory for you and that my ID for each of them is correct!

Nice to have a post in here, its been quite quiet for some time, give the others a poke would you! big_smile

Kind regards
Peter

Re: Unknown alpine clematis.

Very good indeed! The two names on my purchase list of clematis was Marjorie and Broughton Star. The later turned out to be a monster and covered 30 feet along a fence growing 8 feet high. Even the deer eating it couldn't keep it down.

HA HA!! big_smile
Yes the montana's are pretty unstopable and Broughton Star is one of the best.
Glad I got the names too!
