Ballindaloch Castle

One of the most recent rose garden to have been designed by Richard Beales was at Ballindaloch Castle, also known as The Pearl of the North, in Speyside, Scotland. (http://www.ballindallochcastle.co.uk)

The brief was to plant a variety of roses, along with other companion plants, in several large beds.  Initially we were sent images and video of the gardens and were asked for some ideas on what we thought we could do with them.

The plan on the left is a good example of the planting plans created by Richard and consists of some twenty five different varieties in large quantise to form a traditional rose garden.  The varieties involved include some of our best ‘Peter Beales’ created roses including ‘Joan Beales’, St Ethelbura’, ‘Sadler’s Wells’ and ‘Ivor’s Rose’.  Currently in it’s early stages this garden will be a sight to see for many many years to come.

Mrs Russell, the owner of Ballindaloch Castle said:

"Gardening in the north of Scotland is never easy, but [Richard] Beales took into account our severe weather and, with their excellent and quick service, produced the perfect roses for the conditions.  The old walled garden has been much enhanced by Richard's meticulous plants, and he, as ever was delightful to work with"
