Chaenomeles speciosa Madame Butterfly (Japanese Quince)

Spreading, deciduous shrub with glossy, dark green leaves. Flowers are salmon pink and white with yellow centres, late winter to early spring. Ht.1.5mt.(5ft.). Golden-yellow fruit produced in autumn. Best on moist, well-drained soil in sun or part shade.

Shallowly cupped flowers are a brilliant magenta with black centres and veins. Ht.100cm.(40in.). June to August. Deeply cut leaves in mounds turn a gorgeous red colour in autumn.
