Vigorous, evergreen shrub with glossy, dark green leaves bronzing slightly in winter. Large racemes of fragrant, tubular, white flowers are produced from June to September. Ht.3mt.(10ft.). Best in a sunny,fertile, well-drained position. Good in coastal regions and as a hedging plant.

Dark red berries after flowers. Grow in sun or dappled shade and well-drained soil, even chalk. Good garden tree. Attractive to birds.
