Vigorous, large, deciduous shrub with glossy, toothed, dark green leaves. Masses of fragrant, white flowers. May. Ht.2mt.(6ft.). Leaves turn purple-red in autumn. Edible black berries after flowers. Grow in sun or part shade and moist, well-drained soil. Good for mixed borders and containers. Fruit very good for jam, jellies and wine.
Vigorous, evergreen shrub with glossy, dark green leaves bronzing slightly in winter. Large racemes of fragrant, tubular, white flowers are produced from June to September. Ht.3mt.(10ft.). Best in a sunny,fertile, well-drained position. Good in coastal regions and as a hedging plant.
