Crinodendron hookerianum (Lantern Tree)

Stunning, evergreen with toothed, elliptic, dark green leaves. Pendant, crimson to deep carmine-pink flowers, mostly as lantern-shaped buds, along stems. May to August. Ht.5mt.(16ft.). Grow in sun or part shade and moist, fertile, well-drained acid soil. Good for woodland gardens. Protect in cool greenhouse or conservatory in cold areas.

Evergreen, twining vine with glossy, lanceolate leaves. Very fragrant, yellow, trumpet-shaped flowers. February to April. Ht.6mt.(20ft.). Brown fruit after flowers. Fairly vigorous. Best grown in sun and moist, fertile, well-drained acid soil. Needs shelter from cold winds and severe cold. Good for walls, fences, pergolas etc. Very good for butterflies.
