Acer palmatum Sango-kaku (Coral-bark Maple)
Deciduous, hardy, bushy headed shrub or small tree, with pale green, deeply cut leaves that turn soft shades of yellow in autumn. Ht.6mt.(20ft.). Flowers April to May. During winter, newest shoots glow coral-red in sunlght. Best in dappled shade with shelter from strong, cold winds, and growing in moist, well-drained soil.
Acer pseudoplatanus Brilliantissimum (Maple)
Small deciduous tree with salmon-pink young leaves that turn to greenish-yellow as they mature. Small, yellow-green flowers. April to May. Ht.6mt.(20ft.). Clusters of red, winged fruit after flowers. Grow in sun or part shade and moist, well-drained soil with some shelter. Excellent specimen tree.
