    Deciduous, spreading, open shrub or small tree. Fully hardy. Dark green leaves turn reddish-purple in autumn. Masses of small yellow flowers from February-on, followed by edible, red cherry-like fruits. Ht.5mt.(16ft.). Best in sun or partial shade, on moist, well-drained soil. Useful hedgerow plant or as a specimen plant.
