Deciduous, upright, columnar shrub bearing young soft pink and burgandy variegated foliage deepening to deep purple. Colour deepens with age. Small, red tinged, yellow flowers from March to April. Ht.1.2mt.(4ft.). Glossy red fruit after flowers. Requires full sun or shade on well-drained, moist soil. Good for hedging.
Upright, deciduous, spreading shrub with green serrated leaves. Lacecap-type flowers composing of blue outer sterile florets and tiny, darker, fertile florets in the centre, from June to September. Ht.1.2mt.(4ft.). Colour more intense on neutral to acid soils. Grows in sun or partial shade on moist, well-drained soil. Good in containers.
Compact, bushy, deciduous shrub with mid-green leaves. Lacecap-type flattened heads of blue fertile flowers surrounded by large pale blue or pale pink sterile florets. June to September. Ht.1.2m.(4ft.). Leaves turn dusky-red in autumn. Grow in sun or part shade and moist, well-drained acid soil. Good for mixed border, woodland gardens or containers.

Deciduous, upright, rounded shrub with coarse, hairy, dark green leaves. Flattened heads of tightly packed, blue-purple flowers surrounded by glowing, mauve florets from August to September. Ht.4mt.(12ft.). Displays peeling bark. Grows in full sun or partial shade on fertile, moist, well-drained soil. Very good specimen plant.
