Low growing, compact clump with dark green leaves. Short racemes of scented, blue-purple. pea-like flowers in clusters. April to May. Ht.40cm.(16in.). Foliage dies down after flowering. Grow in sun or light shade and fertile, well-drained soil. Good for front of boders and containers.

Evergreen, rhizomatous perennial forming mounds of rounded, kidney-shaped, deep green leaves. Abundant spikes of bell-shaped, dark violet-blue flowers. March to May. Ht.25cm.(10in.). Grow in part to full shade and moist, well-drained soil. Good for woodland plantings, front of shady borders, rock gardens and peat beds.
