Arbutus unedo (Strawberry Tree)

Large, bushy, evergreen shrub or small tree, bearing glossy, dark green, leathery leaves and shredding brown bark. Pink-tinged creamy-white lily-of-the-valley type flowers from September to November. Ht.8mt.(25ft.). Flowers appear as last season's strawberry-like fruit ripens to red. Grow in full sun and fertile, well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Good on coasts, as specimen plant or in large border with shelter.

Elegant, dwarf, deciduous Japanese weeping willow shrub or small tree, bearing creamy-pink variegated young foliage that gradually fades. Orange-coral stems at leaf-fall. Yellow catkin type flowers in April. Ht. 2mt.(6ft.). Grows in full sun and moist, even wet, free draining soil. Can be grown in containers. Looks good by ponds or streams.
