Synthyris missurica stellata

Evergreen, rhizomatous perennial forming mounds of rounded, kidney-shaped, deep green leaves. Abundant spikes of bell-shaped, dark violet-blue flowers. March to May. Ht.25cm.(10in.). Grow in part to full shade and moist, well-drained soil. Good for woodland plantings, front of shady borders, rock gardens and peat beds.
Teuchrium fruticans (Germander)

Evergreen, bushy shrub with grey-green leaves. Spikes of dark, azure-blue salvia-like flowers from June to August. Ht.1mt.(3ft.). Best grown in full sun and well-drained slightly alkaline soil. Needs shelter from cold winds and benefits from winter protection. Good for borders and informal hedging.
