Rosettes of coarsely hairy basal leaves. Sturdy, branching stems carry intense blue flowers. May to July. Ht.90cm.(3ft.). Grow in full sun and moist, well-drained, fertile soil. Can be cut back hard after flowering to give repeats. Good for borders. Attractive to bees.

Semi-evergreen or deciduous, open, upright and tender shrub with leaves of three dark blue-green leaflets. Upright, terminal racemes of pea-like, vanilla-scented, bright yellow flowers emerge from hairy buds May and June. Ht.2.5mt.(8ft.). Pendant green seed pods form after flowers August to September. Best grown in full sun and well-drained soil. Grow against a warm wall and protect from cold winds.
