Piptanthus nepalensis (Evergreen Laburnum)

Semi-evergreen or deciduous, open, upright and tender shrub with leaves of three dark blue-green leaflets. Upright, terminal racemes of pea-like, vanilla-scented, bright yellow flowers emerge from hairy buds May and June. Ht.2.5mt.(8ft.). Pendant green seed pods form after flowers August to September. Best grown in full sun and well-drained soil. Grow against a warm wall and protect from cold winds.

Rosette of basal leaves. Erect stems of orange, candelabra flowers. May to July. Ht.75cm.(2.5ft.). Grow in sun or shade and cool, moist soil. Good for watersides, boggy areas or damp borders. Deciduous.
