Lysimachia candela (Loosestrife)

Rhizomatous plant producing compact rosettes of green leaves and elegant spikes of white, saucer-shaped flowers. July to August. Ht.30cm.(1ft.). Grows in sun or part shade and fertile, moist, well-drained soil. Flowers open from base upwards and are better in full sun. Good for bees and butterflies amd as cut flower.
Muscari latifolium (Grape Hyacinth)
Bulbous perennial with solitary, semi-erect, inversely lance-shaped, mid-green leaves. Dense racemes of oblong or urn-shaped violet-black flowers and crowns of paler, sterile flowers. March. Ht.15cm.(6in.). Grow in sun and well-drained soil. Good for edge of borders, woodland areas or containers.
