Eriobotrya japonica (Loquat)

Evergreen shrub or small tree with large, almost leathery, dark green leaves. Fragrant, self-pollinating, yellow flowers. November to March. Ht.4m.(13ft.). Golden-orange fruit after flowers. Grow in sun or part shade and fertile, moist, well-drained soil. Can withstand salty aspects. May need some frost protection. Good for mediterranean type gardens.
Meconopsis betonicifolia (Himalayan Blue Poppy)
Rosettes of glaucous green, hairy, toothed leaves. Tall stems carry single, fragile, sky-blue flowers with golden stamens. May. Ht.75cm.(2.5ft.). Grow in sun or part shade and humus-rich, moist, well-drained, slightly acid soil. Good for woodland plantings.

Broadly lance-shaped, dark green leaves. New ones and stems have rusty-brown hairs. Beautiful, rich blue flowers from June to July. Ht.100cm.(3ft.). Fertile form producing long, narrow seed pods. Grow in part shade and moist, fertile soil. More perennial and tolerant of slightly drier conditions than others. Good for damp, shady, corners.
