Evergreen, bushy mound with purple foliage. Sweetly scented pink witch-hazel-like flowers from February to April. Ht.1mt.(3ft.). Frost hardy. Grow in part shade and fertile, moist, well-drained, humus rich soil. Best if given shelter from cold or winter protection. Good for cutting, containers or front of border.
Meconopsis betonicifolia (Himalayan Blue Poppy)
Rosettes of glaucous green, hairy, toothed leaves. Tall stems carry single, fragile, sky-blue flowers with golden stamens. May. Ht.75cm.(2.5ft.). Grow in sun or part shade and humus-rich, moist, well-drained, slightly acid soil. Good for woodland plantings.
