Helleborus

Fully to half hardy perennials, some of which are evergreen, grown for their winter and spring flowers. Most deciduous species retain their leaves over winter, which should be cut off in early spring as flower buds develop. Excellant in woodlands, otherwise best in semi-shade and well-drained, moisture retentive soil.
