Primula

Mainly herbaceous perennials, some woody-based and evergreen. All have basal rosettes of leaves and tubular, bell- or primrose-shaped flowers.

In some, the majority of the plant is covered in a waxy powder (farina). They prefer neutral to acid soil that doesn't dry out. Varieties available for many situations; Rock and bog gardens, borders, watersides, green- and alpine-house. Fully hardy to frost tender.
