Evergreen trees, shrubs and woody climbers, that have the potential to strangle host tree to death. Grown for its leaves or edible fruit. Leaves are simple to shallow or deeply lobed. Minute, petalless flowers form in inflated stem tips which then swell to form fig fruit. Hardy to frost tender. Best in sun or partial shade and moist, well-drained soil with shelter from cold winds. Grow suitable varieties in greenhouse or as houseplants.
