The variably shaped leaves are hairless to densely silky-hairy. Flowers are single or in clusters being cup to star-shaped in white, red or pink with clawed petals. Best in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil against a warm wall or fence. Some are half-hardy or frost tender and need the protection of cool greenhouse or conservatory.
