Pyracantha
Spiny, evergreen, spreading to erect shrubs, occasionally trees, found in scrub and woodland margins. They are grown for their foliage, flowers and in particular, fruit.
The variable shaped leaves are alternate and have toothed margins. The 5-petalled white flowers are hawthorn-like and borne in compound corymbs. The showy, spherical berries that follow them in autumn are yellow, orange or red. Grow as free-standing shrubs or against a wall or use for hedging.
