Vaccinium corymbosum Bluejay (Blueberry)
Dense, upright, shrub with arching stems bearing green leaves that turn red in autumn. White flowers in late spring followed by large, sweet, blue-black berries. Late July. Ht.1.5m.(5ft.). Heavy cropper. Grow in sun or part shade and moist, well-drained, acidic soil. Flowers may need protection from late frosts. Very good for containers or suitable borders. Fruit is superb for pies, jams, crumbles, tarts, freezing, etc.
