Hybrid Teas

Hybrid Tea roses are easily recognised by their large flowers and pointed buds and are often what people first visualise when thinking about roses. Unlike Floribunda roses which produce clusters of flowers, Hybrid Tea roses tend to produce just a single flower on the end of each stem. Like many modern garden roses Hybrid Teas also have a long flowering period, from early summer until the first frosts of autumn and will benefit from annual pruning and regular feeding with a good rose fertilizer in early spring, early summer and fortnightly liquid feeds throughout the flowering period.

Introduced to comme morate the 900th anniversary of one of this country's most beautiful Cathedrals. Yellow is a colour much associated with the city of Norwich, so it is appropriate that this rose should be yellow.

'We bought this rose for ourselves in Norwich and also for a gift for a relative in Sussex. We are both delighted with it. In both gardens, it is blooming for the third time this year.
A beautiful rose. We highly recommend it.' T and C Cooper.

(Hybrid Tea) 'Mme. A Meilland'. This rose is so well known that it really needs no description. Large, fully double, primrose yellow with soft pink shading. Sweetly scented. Healthy and vigorous with rich green glossy foliage. Excellent for cutting and for growing as a hedge. Hardy. Bred by Meilland.

In 1945, Alain Meilland, the breeder of 'Peace', wrote to Field Marshall Alan Brooke, offering to name the rose after him, as a thanks your for his part in liberating France. Brooke declined, but suggest the name 'Peace'. In 1976 this rose was voted as the world's most favourite rose and Peter Beales wrote: "That without a doubt, [Peace] is the finest Hybrid Tea ever raised and it will remain a standard variety forever."
