Rambling Roses

Rambling roses are perfect for growing over arches and trellis’, due to their flexible branches which are easy to bend and tie in. Many rambling roses only flower once during early to mid-summer, but usually flower prolifically, producing clusters of flowers. The blooms of ramblers tend to be smaller than those of climbing roses, but are produced in such abundance that once established the result is often breath-taking. Many ramblers also go on to produce attractive hips in the autumn. Scrambling roses, or scramblers, are similar to rambling roses, but generally even more vigorous making them great for growing up into trees or planted to cover large areas.

    (Noisette) One of the earliest Noisettes introduced. Large clusters of scented, double pure white, medium-sized blooms from pink buds. This repeat flowering rambler is vigorous and almost thornless. With lush, light green, healthy foliage and upright habit. Like most Noisettes, this rose comes into flower a week or two later than other ramblers and benefits from being able to tolerate a northerly aspect and shade. May be shy to flower initially. Bred by Vibert.

    (Musk Rambler) One of the few ramblers that repeat flowers, The pretty small orange-yellow, flowers are profusely produced in clusters on a healthy robust plant. Blooms will pale to creamy buff with age. Good, glossy foliage and almost thornless this variety deserves far more attention. Falling into the shorter growing category, this rambler can comfortably be grown as a large bush if space permits. Bred by Turbat

    (Banksiae Hybrid) Tiny semi-double creamy-white, scented blooms in large clusters, on a thornless plant. A healthy rose for warm sheltered positions and can be grown as a shrub with support. Larger and more open flowers than 'Rosa banksiae alba plena', but less flowers per flush. Very similar to 'fortuniana' but with no thorns. Bred by Mansuino.
